About This Site

Flexnote is a local-first visual note-taking app for deep learning and research. Capture ideas as cards, arrange them on an infinite canvas, and connect them with mind maps and bidirectional links. Annotate PDFs and YouTube videos, then use Flexnote AI to search, summarize, and organize your own knowledge base. Notes stay on your device by default, with optional sync through OneDrive, S3, or WebDAV. Free to start on Windows, macOS, and Android. Flexnote is built for students, researchers, and anyone who learns from papers, courses, and long videos. Notes are cards, not long documents. You place them on an infinite canvas, link them, and turn a board into a mind map when you need the structure. Flexnote AI works on that same library. Ask a question and answers come back with citations from your notes. On a card you can summarize, translate, or generate a mind map without opening a long chat. The agent can also add sticky notes, links, and groups on the whiteboard, and write a conclusion into a new card. Chat uses your own model API key (DeepSeek, Tongyi, and other providers). Flexnote does not use your notes to train models. The desktop apps run on Windows 10 or later and macOS 11 or later. An Android app is available. The website currently only lets you view a published whiteboard. iOS is still in development.

Key Features AI

Core Features
Infinite canvas: place cards freely, zoom and pan, and keep the board responsive past 10,000 nodes.
Cards and bidirectional links: one idea per card, Markdown editing, and @ links that build a knowledge network.
Mind maps: view a whiteboard as a mind map, or generate one from a PDF summary and save it to the card library.
PDF annotation: highlight and annotate papers on the canvas, and turn highlights into reference cards.
Video notes: timestamp notes for local files, YouTube, and Bilibili, with the frame saved on the card.
Flexnote AI: cited Q&A over your notes, card actions for summarize, translate, and custom prompts, plus an agent that edits the whiteboard.
Tag database: tags, properties, and linked views for filtering a large card library.
Local-first storage: notes stay on your device. Sync is optional through OneDrive, S3, WebDAV, or Baidu Netdisk.
Advantages
Stores notes locally by default and supports offline editing

AI note taker and study guide maker: turn lectures, meetings, PDFs, YouTube videos and audio into structured notes, summaries, flashcards, quizzes, mind maps and podcasts. Web, iOS and Android. NoteLyn AI is an AI note taker and study tool that turns whatever you are learning or discussing into notes you can actually use. Record a lecture or an in-person meeting, upload an audio file, import a PDF or Word document, paste a YouTube or web link, or snap photos of slides, handouts and handwritten notes. NoteLyn transcribes and organizes it into a structured note — headings, key points, definitions and takeaways — with a clear AI summary on top. From one note to every study format Most AI note-taking apps stop at a transcript or a summary. NoteLyn treats your note as the starting point. From the same note you can generate: - Flashcards — turn notes into flashcards without typing a single card - Quizzes — an AI quiz maker that builds practice questions from your own material - Mind map and infographic — see how concepts connect at a glance - Podcast — turn notes or a PDF into an audio recap you can listen to on the go - Meeting minutes and action items — decisions and next steps, shareable with one link - AI chat — ask questions and get answers grounded in your note, not the open web What you can turn into notes - Lecture recording to notes, with a live transcript in the mobile app - Audio to notes: MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC and OGG - PDF to notes and Word to notes, with headings and sections parsed automatically - YouTube video to notes, using the video's captions when available - Web articles to notes - Image to notes: OCR for slides, whiteboards, textbook pages and handwriting (up to 9 photos at once) - Typed text with headings, lists, tables and to-dos How NoteLyn compares - vs Otter.ai and Fireflies.ai: those tools are built around online meetings and meeting bots. NoteLyn is built around the content itself — it works the same way for a lecture, an in-person meeting, a PDF or a YouTube video, and it adds study tools (flashcards, quizzes, mind maps) that meeting transcribers don't focus on. If you need a bot that joins Zoom calls automatically, a meeting assistant fits better; if you record in the room or study from what you captured, NoteLyn does. - vs Google NotebookLM: NotebookLM is a research notebook for asking questions across uploaded sources. NoteLyn is a capture-first note taker: you can record a class on your phone, and each recording becomes a finished note plus study materials in one step. - vs Quizlet and Anki: with flashcard apps you build or import the cards yourself. NoteLyn generates flashcards and quizzes from your lecture, PDF or video automatically. - vs Goodnotes, Notability and Apple Notes: handwriting notebooks are great for writing with a pen, but they don't summarize, transcribe or quiz you. Many students handwrite in class and use NoteLyn to turn recordings, slides and PDFs into study material afterwards. Who it's for College and high school students preparing for exams, online learners taking YouTube courses, researchers reading papers, and professionals who need meeting minutes and action items from in-person meetings, client calls and interviews. One account works across the web app (app.notelyn.com), iOS and Android, so you can record on your phone and review on your laptop. Your content is never used to train third-party models, and deleting your account removes all of your data.
