OpenTypeless is an open-source desktop dictation and AI writing assistant. Press a global hotkey, speak naturally, and insert clean text into email, chat, documents, code editors, and other apps. Beyond speech-to-text, it can polish dictated text, adapt the writing style to the current app, translate or rewrite selected text, and answer one-shot voice questions. Users can choose optional managed cloud access or bring their own speech-to-text and language-model providers, including Whisper-compatible endpoints and OpenAI-compatible models. BYOK credentials are stored locally, using the operating system credential vault where available, and requests go directly to the configured provider. Each request runs on a checked route. If that route fails before the response starts, the request moves to another route of the same model — it never swaps in a different model. Usage is metered per token in USD against one prepaid balance, with prices published per model.
